Ghanaian comedian Derrick Kobina Bonney, popularly known as DKB, is in the news for making very shocking statements concerning infidelity.
He is of the opinion that men have the right to cheat because they own the woman.
He said this on Saturday, during a Joy FM’s lifestyle and entertainment programme – Ryhthm A to Z, where he was a guest. This was in response to the divorce saga between another popular Ghanaian comedian known as Funny Face and his wife Elizabeth Nana Adjoa Ntim.
“When you find the man cheating, don’t worry, leave him to God because that was what our moms and grandmas did,” he said.
When the presenter asked him if men could cheat and women couldn’t, he had this to say (click here to listen):
“[Men can cheat] because we bought the wedding ring and we organised the wedding and you bear our surname.
“We own you.
“Actually the word bride means cook. She’s your cook. We own them.
“The man doesn’t bear the woman’s surname, because we own you.
“The man owns the children…
“We take charge of you, that’s why you take our name.”
These are indeed very disturbing and shocking statements to hear in 2016. What are your thoughts?
