What’s your baby up to?
Your baby is officially “full term” this week. He now weighs about 3.28kg and measures about 50.7cm from head to toe. He is still piling on more body fat to keep warm after birth, especially in the elbow, knees and shoulders.
Your baby still gets a steady supply of nutrients and antibodies from the placenta.
The hormones in your body will make your baby’s genitals to look a bit swollen, and some baby girls leak a little blood from the vagina after they are born. It’s all normal, the genitals will shrink to their normal size.
How are you doing?
You are getting more and more impatient. You are absolutely sick and tired of waiting. You just want to see your baby already! Don’t worry mom, your baby can’t wait to see you too!
You are still adding about a pound every week and you have a hard time moving around.
From time to time, you may be hit with the nesting instinct, and get a sudden urge to clean up the whole house in anticipation of your baby’s arrival. Be sure not to do any strenuous work.
What should you do this week?
Be sure to know the signs of labour as your baby can arrive any time from now.
Continue to pay attention to your baby’s movements and let your doctor know right away if there’s a decrease, as this could be a sign of a problem.
Get off to a good start with breastfeeding by arming yourself with the knowledge of the different breastfeeding techniques.
Fill up the remaining days with happy activities like catching a movie at the cinema, visiting a friend, getting a pedicure, etc.
Finally, if it happens this week, congratulations in advance! Don’t rush off to the baby and breastfeeding section without sharing your good news and birth story with other moms in your Due Date Club. Our ears are seriously itching!
After your doctor gives you the OK to start exercising, be sure to join other moms in the Postpartum weight loss challenge. Losing the baby weight is fun and easy when we struggle together!
