Mom shares “uncensored” photo to expose the realities of postpartum life

Whenever a baby is born, the good news is shared alongside cute photos, with friends and well wishers.

What usually doesn’t get shared is the messy and less-than glamorous details, which in actual fact are the realities of motherhood.

Well that suddenly changed on Thursday, when North Carolina mom, Amanda Bacon, took to her Facebook page to show the world the stark realities of postpartum life, in the most hilarious way possible.

In the post captioned “Motherhood Uncensored”, she is seen in the background of her hospital room, wearing nothing but a giant mom diaper while her husband takes a selfie with their newborn.

“I’m sharing this picture because it’s real”, she wrote.

“This is motherhood; it’s raw, stunning, messy, and freaking hilarious all rolled into one.

“Having a baby is a beautiful experience, and the realities of postpartum life aren’t spoken enough about. And definitely not photographed enough.

“Some people probably find this uncomfortable, but why? I seriously don’t get it! It’s probably because this part isn’t talked about.

“We all should try and educate, empower and embrace every aspect of childbirth, including moments like this. And do it while having a sense of humor.

“Nothing says welcome to motherhood like an adorable squishy baby, and a giant mom diaper.

With a whopping 530,000 likes and 126,614 shares, the post went viral very quickly because so many moms could relate with her honesty.

Even Amanda herself was amazed at the massive support her post received.

“Holy. Freaking. Crap”, she wrote.

“Pierce and I this morning upon seeing all the love on our Motherhood Uncensored post! Wow!!!! We’re both clearly overcome with joy from all the love, support and kind words.

“Well, at least one of us is. I think the other is just trying to take their morning poop. You guess which is which.

The new mom is now working on a blog where she will be sharing tons of humorous motherhood anecdotes.

A lot of moms can’t wait to read her stories. Surely, a little bit of humour is needed to make motherhood and parenting much easier.
