This family’s money lesson to their son is a must read for every parent

It’s always good to come across positive and effective parenting styles we can learn from and try out with our kids.

The lessons a little boy has learnt about money from his family has got the internet buzzing with joy and excitement. The impressive post which was shared on Facebook by Humans of New York  on Father’s Day has garnered over 800000 reactions and 22000 shares.

These parents give their son 1 dollar every week, and with it teach him priceless life lessons about investment and compassion.

Read what the little boy said, below:

“Every week I get one dollar for allowance. Then I get to choose the section where I put my dollar. There are four sections: spend, save, donate, and invest. If I put a dollar in the ‘invest section,’ my parents give me two extra pennies at the end of every month. I’ve only used my ‘spend section’ twice! I have way over $10 in my ‘invest section.’ I used to have more but I took some money out and put it in my ‘donate section.’ We used to it to buy food for people who don’t have much money in their ‘spend section.’”

The family has been applauded all over the world for their parenting style and for teaching their kids to be compassionate from a very young age.

“This is the perfect way to teach children compassion and understanding that not everyone is as fortunate as they are, while also helping them to grow up financially responsible! You’re doing a great job as a father,” said one commenter.

“Teaching children to invest and give is such a powerful tool! They learn the value of money. They also learn how giving helps the lives of others and themselves,” commented another reader.

The praises kept pouring in.

In all of this, it’s undeniable that parents play the primary role of shaping their kids for the future in ways that attending the best schools or having the best opportunities in life cannot.

It all lies in your parenting style, in the simple everyday things you do at home.

What do you think about this family’s method? Will you be adopting it?
