The sad incident occurred on Tuesday, 17th May around 5.00pm, at the Third Mainland Bridge. A 27-year old mother of four who was carrying her 12-month old baby, attempted to jump into the lagoon and end it all.
She was spotted by a cab driver, who immediately alerted men of the Rapid Response Squad (RRS), who fortunately, were on routine patrol of the area. The men rescued her and took her to the RRS headquarters where she was interrogated.
She was reported to have said that she trekked from Medina estate in Gbagada to Third Mainland Bridge, in response to a voice which was repeatedly calling out her name and drawing her closer to the bridge .
The mom of four who is also a University of Lagos dropout, told the RRS operatives that she had a disagreement with her husband, before she relocated to her parent’s house in Gbagda.
She and her baby have been released to their relatives.
