Postpartum weight-loss: I am the “dustbin of my home”, and here’s why!

“I want pink doughnuts!”

“I want pink doughnuts!”

My daughter kept singing this into my ears all evening.

She had asked for pink pancakes in the morning, but I told her that was impossible. I couldn’t talk her out of the pink doughnuts because she’s seen that at the store. So we finally went out and got a pack of four raspberry glazed doughnuts. Yum!

I have a weakness for yummy pastries, which is why I try to avoid these things. Plus, I still have 18 kg of my pregnancy weight I’ve been trying to lose for over a year now.

Well did she eat the doughnuts? For where? She just took a bite out of each of them, thereby destroying the perfect eccentricity of these doughnuts.

Who helped her eat them? ME!

How many did I eat? ALL FOUR OF THEM!

At what interval? IN ONE SITTING!

Who is regretting her actions? ME!

Will I do it again? Erm…yes?….

Who else eats her kid’s leftovers? Who else is “the dustbin of the home”?

If you’re not, what do you do with your kid’s leftovers? Kindly share in the comments.

According to mommy fitness expert Solum Ikelie, eating everyone’s left over is one of the main reasons moms who claim to be eating healthy and exercising are not losing weight.

Not letting food go to waste is a noble thing to do. However, letting our tummies serve as a storage is detrimental to our postpartum weight-loss goals and efforts.

“All these calories add up,” says Solum.  “At the end of the day you may have eaten your body requirements for 2 days,” she added.
