Pregnancy Week 25

Posted By: Maternity Nest 0 Comment Pregnancy week 25

What’s your baby up to?

Your baby is very active and now tips the scales at about 660g, and measures around 34.6cm from head to toe.

The wrinkled skin is beginning to smoothen out and getting more opaque as more fat is being stored up in his body.

The nostrils, which were previously plugged, are now open, and he makes breathing movements by inhaling and exhaling little quantities of amniotic fluid.

Your little one’s eyes can now open and close and your baby has also developed the blinking reflex.

The soft downy hair known as lanugo begins to disappear and your baby is now starting to sprout real hair.

How are you doing?

Niggling pregnancy symptoms like indigestion, heartburn, tiredness, swelling, dizziness, hemorrhoids and other pregnancy twitches are pretty common.

Just like your sweet baby, you are also piling on the extra weight. You are now adding about one pound every week.

In addition, you are most likely dealing with pregnancy insomnia. The weight of your growing uterus, your baby’s kicks, body aches and pains, and having to pee frequently are all making you lose out on some much needed quality sleep.

What should you do this week?

To relieve hemorrhoids, you first have to reduce constipation by increasing your fluid and fiber intake. Then ease off the itchiness or soreness associated with hemorrhoids by sitting over a sitz bath, over the counter hemorrhoidal creams, witch hazel, or any other treatment your doctor prescribes.

You can get some comfortable sleep by supporting yourself with pillows. Body pillows or pillows placed between your legs or under your belly, can ease discomfort. While sleeping on the back is such a comfy position; sadly, it’s still best and safer for you and your baby if you sleep on your left side.

Any swelling on your body should be reported to your doctor. He will take your blood pressure and test for protein in your urine, just to rule out a condition called pre-eclampsia, which also has swelling as one of its symptoms.

Staying active helps you cope better with your pregnancy, and will also help you recover faster after childbirth.

Keep stocking up on baby stuff, you’ll be glad you did. Have you thought about if or when you will be having a baby shower?
