The sad incident happened in Effia Nkwanta Hospital, Ghana. According to Joy News, the roof of the main surgery ward in the hospital caved in during a caeserean section operation.
As a result, the surgery which was being done on 3 pregnant women was halted and the women transferred to another hospital – Kwesi Mintim Hospital. Unfortunately, one of them died in the process.
The circumstances surrounding her death remain unclear. While some people attributed her death to the incident, the Medical Director of Effia Nkwanta Hospital, Dr Kwau Ntodi says she died of a ruptured uterus, and not as a result of moving from one hospital to another, reports Joy News.
The deceased woman’s baby also didn’t survive.  A medical officer in attendance at Kwesi Mintim Hospital confirmed to Joy news that the baby had already died before they got to the hospital.
The two other patients are said to be doing well.
