How this Ugandan Dad takes care of his daughter while wife is at work will melt your heart

Going back to work at the end of a maternity leave is never an easy decision for new moms.

Apart from a deep sense of guilt for leaving your little one for a long stretch of time, the greatest worry is who to trust with the well being of your child while you are away at work.

A childminder? Daycare or househelp? None of these options is as satisfying to parents as when they take care of their child themselves.

“When my wife’s maternity was done she wondered what we would do for baby Christabel since she had to resume work,” wrote Ugandan dad Shamora Collins in a Facebook post that has quickly gone viral.

The new dad took away his wife’s worries by stepping in to take care of their baby while she was at work.

Collins decided to take his daddy duties to his duty post. He took his daughter to his place of work; which luckily was a flexible and supportive work environment. Talk about a win win situation!

“I thought of hiring a maid but after seeing brutal maids actions I told my wife I will be going to work with [Christabel].

“She laughed I told her I couldn’t risk my child with a maid. My work being flexible and my wife couldn’t go with her… I took up the role,” he wrote.

The hero dad didn’t settle for a shabby caregiving either, he took his time to learn the ropes of the job including bathing, feeding, dressing and holding a baby.

“I asked my wife how to bathe her, feed her, dress her and how to hold her which she gladly taught me.

“It’s a month now since I started working with my daughter. I am happy and enjoying every moment, she no longer cries for the mum anymore,” added Collins.

The heartwarming post has garnered over 7900 shares, 16000 comments and 73000 positive reactions.

The young dad also had a word of advice for his fellow men.

“Fellow men don’t get ashamed of your children, play your role,” he admonished.
