What’s your baby up to?
Your baby is now tipping the scales at about 3.1 kg and measures around 6cm long from head to toe.
Your baby is still growing a bit and filling up every inch of space in your womb. Though his space is cramped up, he is still as active as he’s always been.
Your little munchkin has grown small breast buds on the chest.
The fine downy hair-lanugo that covered his skin is gone, except a bit left on the upper arms and shoulders.
Your baby’s muscles and bones are fully developed and your little one has developed a very firm grasp, which he can’t wait to wrap around your eager fingers.
How are you doing?
You are almost at the finish line, so it’s understandable that you are becoming very impatient.
You are most likely experiencing some swelling in your feet and ankles.
You may be feeling some pressure on your pelvic floor.
Anxiety and the discomfort of these last days may make you particularly cranky, moody and irritable. Be sure to talk to your doctor if you are suffering from depression.
What should you do this week?
It’s important to keep monitoring your baby’s kicks. If your baby is not as active as he used to be or is not moving, you have to report immediately to your healthcare provider.
Be on the look out for any warning signs of Pre-eclampsia like severe headache, excessive swelling in the face, feet or ankles, vision changes, nausea or vomiting.
To breastfeed or formula-feed your baby? Exclusive breastfeeding is usually recommended for at least the first 6 months of life due to its numerous health benefits.
Fill up the remaining days with little activities like decorating your baby’s nursery, sorting your baby’s clothes, cooking and stocking up your fridge, etc.
keep practising your breathing and relaxation exercises, and also massage your perineum in preparation for your not-so far away D-day.
